George was one of the most generous and loving men that I had the priveledge of knowing. He had a heart of gold. I will never forget the many times he would pick me up and take me home from Archie because I was too young to drive at the time. I'll also never forget the good times we had on road trips together. I regret not being able to come home for his funeral, but I know he understands. He was very happy for me when he found out that I was going into the Marines. I'll miss him dearly and love him always. Hope he still smiling in heaven.

To George's Family,
George was a lovely man and was very kind to everyone at Archer-Epler. When he was a part of the corps, my daughter, Emily, and I often went to parades or corps "happenings" with my husband, Chuck, and George often talked to Emily or teased her! She was about ten at the time. It was obvious that he loved children.
Chuck and I often talk about George. In fact, his name came up last week and I said we should try to get in touch with him. I am so sorry we didn't!!
He was a true gentleman and will be missed by so many. We feel lucky to have known him.

I am so sad to hear of the death of my old friend George, and I wish to offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. I feel great guilt for not keeping in better touch with him these past few years.
I met George when I taught the Lincoln “Invaders” down at 20th & Federal Streets in South Philly, and later, invited him to join the Archer Epler corps when the “Invaders” fell on hard times. George was impossible to dislike and was, of course, the perfect person to integrate “Archie” back in 1966.
George always kidded me that I taught him everything he knew about bugling, and I would say, “Shush, you don’t know much!” George liked the fact that I taught in Bensalem and always asked me to look for the trophy’s he won as a track star at Bensalem high school, where they called him “Flash Carter” because he was so fast.
George gave many children a chance to learn and perform when he managed his junior corps in North Philly, and lamented to me many times about the difficulty of getting the next generation of kids involved. It saddened him that the bugle corps activity was dying out in Philadelphia, but he was always trying, and that was one of the many things I loved about George Carter.
Good bye and God bless you George, you will always be memory and in my heart.
Sincerely,
Chuck Smith

George, You meant a lot to us and our family. Our children, now grown, will never forget you. It was an honor to know you. Remember, ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL!

My heart is heavy on hearing of George's passing, but I'm grateful for the time that I had with him. He was the most gentle of men and a true gentleman. A hard worker who never said "I can't". He mastered the baritone horn in Archie and was always supportive of the program. He's gone home now, hopefully to sing in that heavenly choir. He was a steadfast singer in the 3 time National Champion Musketeer chorus and a member of the magnificent hornline of the National Champion Corps.
We will all miss George, but we are all better for having him in our lives. I was homored to call him friend.
Good bye old friend.....'til we meet again.

I was sorry to hear that my old buddy George has passed. George & I marched together at Archer Epler for many years. I held the highest respect for him. In fact he talked me into joining the Legion .
We traveled up & down the road together many times . I will miss him very much.
To me George was an Angel that God sent to help me out. I have lost many friends over the years, and He was one of the Best of the Best !
The world is a little sadder, because George Carter has gone home.
I will always have a very special place for George in my heart. He was a true Gentelman.
This is not Goodbye George, but I'll see you Soon! God Bless you my Friend.
