The Obituary
JAMES C. HUGHES, JR., son of the late James and Naomi Hughes was born February 21, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
James, who was known as Jimmy or Junior by his mother was educated in the Public School System. He graduated from West Philadelphia High School and went on to graduate with a BA in Business from Antioch College. He came to know Christ at an early age.
Jimmy was a civil servant for 45 years, in addition to being ward leader in his community he worked as a chief investigator for the public defenders association after which he went on to work for the late John Anderson, the late Lucien Blackwell, Janie Blackwell and the late Carolyn Campbell. Jimmy joined the Mason’s in his early years.
Jimmy could be funny or he could be serious, he left it up to you to decide which one he was at the time. He always was willing to give and help whoever he could.
On Friday, May 22, 2009, our sovereign God saw fit to call His son from labor to reward.
Jimmy leaves to cherish many years of memories: his daughter, Tonya Hughes; his sister, Mildred M. Hughes; his nieces, Tinamarie Hughes and Candice Hughes; great-niece, Sa’Miya Hughes; great-nephews, Denzel Hughes and Te’von Hughes; and a host of loving relatives and special friends.
