Life and Love of Donald R. Mallard

DONALD R. MALLARD was born on September 13, 1938 to the late Helen C. Green and Howard T. Mallard, Sr.. Donald was born in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the oldest of nine children.
Donald grew up in Southwest Philadelphia (Elmwood) and was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. He was a fabulous basketball player and his nickname was "snake". He was a creative artist who worked well with his hands and enjoyed putting puzzles together. He had a great love for music and collected a very large library of "oldies, but goodies". He also played the guitar. Among his collections, Donald also loved to collect pictures of his family.
Donald made friends very easily and was well liked and attended any event that his children were involved in or wherever he was invited. He would walk for miles to get fresh air and was not afraid to go anywhere. His favorite saying was "Ain't that nothing". "Boe" as he was affectionately called by his brother Howard, came to live at Interfaith House of Germantown in Philadelphia in 2007 where he will be greatly missed.
Donald was a very good big brother, father, grandfather, uncle and granduncle and all will miss him dearly.
Donald leaves to cherish his memory: the mother of his children, Marie Kennel; his brothers, Howard P. Mallard, Jr., Carl Mallard, Kenneth Mallard, Tyrone Mallard and Dana DeMaio; sisters, Delores Mallard, Denise DeMaio and Ramona Mallard; sons, Donald Kennel, Darrel Kennel and Darnell Kennel; grandchildren, Lawrence (Remeak), Najaye and Dovana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded by: his brothers, Eugene Mallard, Darrell Mallard and Michael Mallard and sisters Barbara Mallard and Renee DeMaio. He was also preceded by his daughter, Delores Ann Kennel.
